FAQ — VeinPool mining pool
What are the fees?
1% of block rewards, in PPLNS and in SOLO (in SOLO you receive the block minus 1%). Nothing else: no withdrawal fee, no hidden fee. Exceptions: 0% on Warthog, Zycord, Dero (direct SOLO, paid by the blockchain). Mining software takes its own dev fee (0 to 2%), separate from VeinPool.
How does PPLNS work?
Pay Per Last N Shares: when the pool finds a block, the reward is split between miners according to their shares over the last window of work. It is the fairest mode for steady miners and it discourages pool hopping.
How are earnings shared?
VeinPool combines every miner's hashrate to find blocks far more often than solo. Each block's reward (minus the pool fee) is split by merit: everyone receives in proportion to the work really done over the PPLNS window, that is, in proportion to their hashrate. Your live share is shown in My dashboard.
Small-miner bonus: up to +5%, what is it?
On every block found in PPLNS, a miner holding less than 10% of the block's shares gets its share raised, up to +5%. The bonus is paid out of the pool fee (1%), never out of the other miners' share: big miners get exactly their share by merit. So a block's bonus budget is at most its fee, shared at one rate by all small miners: rate = the smaller of 5% and 1% divided by the share of the block held by all small miners together. Examples: small miners = 20% of the block or less, +5% each; 50%, +2%; 100% (e.g. 100 small miners), +1%. The goal: give small rigs a fair chance against farms. The bonus shows in your history as "Bonus petit mineur".
Pool or SOLO: which one?
Every coin has its own PPLNS port and SOLO port, listed on its page. In the pool (PPLNS) you get steady earnings every time any VeinPool miner finds a block. In SOLO you keep the block reward (minus fees) when your rig finds it, but it can take a long time. For most miners the pool is the best choice; on small networks the calculator shows your solo odds.
When do I get paid?
A block's earnings show up right away as "maturing", then become available after the blockchain's confirmations (an orphaned block is cancelled). Payouts are then sent automatically once your confirmed balance reaches the coin's minimum payout. On direct SOLO pools the blockchain pays the block straight to your address. How do I withdraw my earnings?
Nothing to do: payouts are automatic (see the thresholds above). On some pools (Quantus, Tari…) a "Withdraw" button in My dashboard also lets you request a payout from the minimum. For safety a payout always goes to the address that mined: nobody else can divert your earnings.
Do I need an account?
No. Your wallet address is your login. Add a worker name after a dot (address.rig1) to tell your machines apart.
Which port should I use?
On every coin page, the first PPLNS port suits most rigs (1 to 4 GPUs or one CPU). When it exists, the "farms" port starts at a higher difficulty for large setups: fewer shares sent, same earnings. The SOLO port is separate. Difficulty then adjusts automatically to your hashrate.
Which coins are coming next?
On the radar (upcoming launches): Tenero, Mercatura, Chroma. Pools being prepared on VeinPool: Keryx, Parano1d, Dilithion, Monetarium. The VeinPool Radar tracks mineable coins that just launched or are about to, with their date, algorithm and reward: veinpool.fr/radar.
Can I mine over an encrypted (TLS) connection?
Yes. Every stratum port has an encrypted twin: add 10000 to the port number and replace stratum+tcp with stratum+ssl (example: stratum+ssl://veinpool.fr:13080 for Ravencoin). Encryption protects your address and shares from interception. Most miners support it (SRBMiner, T-Rex, lolMiner, GMiner, Rigel, BzMiner; XMRig with --tls). TLS ports are listed on every coin page.
Do Quantus and Qubitcoin share the QTC ticker?
Yes: they are two different blockchains that both use the QTC ticker. On VeinPool, Quantus (QPoW algorithm) and Qubitcoin (Qhash algorithm) each have their own page, ports and payouts. Make sure your address matches the coin you mine.
Are my estimated earnings guaranteed?
No. The calculator uses the current difficulty and price; luck (effort), difficulty and price change all the time. Earnings shown in our short videos are one-off results, not typical.
