1. Get a VTC address

You need a VTC receiving address whose keys you control: the official Vertcoin wallet is the safest choice. Avoid exchange deposit addresses for solo mining: some exchanges do not accept block rewards (coinbase).

2. Download a mining software

3. Start mining

Replace YOUR_ADDRESS with your VTC address and rig1 with your machine's name. Command for each miner (port 3710):

Pool (PPLNS) or SOLO?

PPLNS pool: everyone's hashrate is combined and each block is split according to the work each miner really did. Steady income, recommended for most rigs.

SOLO: your rig mines alone; when it finds a block it receives the reward (6.25 VTC) minus the 1% pool fee. On a small network like Vertcoin, a single machine can find blocks regularly; the calculator shows your exact odds.

For farms, port 3711 (PPLNS) starts at a higher difficulty: fewer shares to send, same earnings.
